Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Vilnius | Lithuania

The Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC, http://www.ftmc.lt) is the largest scientific research institution in Lithuania carrying out a unique fundamental research and technological development works in scientific fields of laser technologies, optoelectronics, organic chemistry, biophotonics, functional materials, electronics, and related.

Department of Optoelectronics (DoO) of the FTMC is active in both fundamental and applied research in the fields of semiconductor physics, optoelectronics, THz spectroscopy and imaging.

Department of Molecular Compound Physics (DoMCP) of the FTMC has a long-lasting experience in the interaction of biological systems with nanomaterials, photoacoustics of complex bio-systems, nanotheranostics and biosensing.

Role and profile of key people

Prof. Dr. Irmantas Kašalynas (FTMC node PI), male, Senior researcher, a group leader, head of the Terahertz Photonics Lab in DoO. His current research interests include compact roomtemperature terahertz and sub-terahertz radiation emitters and detectors, beam filters and modulators, plasmon resonance devices, THz photonics and electronics.

Dr. Renata Karpicz, female, Senior researcher, a deputy of Head of the DoMCP and one of the leaders in research of kinetic processes in organic and hybrid materials. Her research interest includes spectroscopic characterization of organic, biological and inorganic materials, ultrafast excitation relaxation processes in organic molecular compounds.

Dr. Vytautas Janonis, male, Researcher, coauthor of 30 publications (WoS), he was principal implementer in 5 research projects. He has experience in modelling periodic structures and 2D material stacks (RCWA, FDTD methods), fabrication of semiconductor devices using photolithography, characterization using FTIR, THz spectroscopy and imaging.
